Peanut Butter Cookies (Geneva Hillje)

In memory of my Mother, Geneva Boatwright Hillje (Betty June Koricanek)

1 c. shortening 2 ½ c. flour, sifted

1 c. peanut butter 1 t. soda

2 c. brown sugar 1 t. salt

2 eggs 1 t. baking powder

½ t. vanilla

Cream shortening, peanut butter, and brown sugar thoroughly. Add eggs and beat well. Sift dry ingredients together and add to mixture. Mix well. Form into small balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Press each with a fork crisscross. Bake 350° until set. Cool on wax paper or wire rack.
